Who is 'they' here? If you mean the data lead, then yes, it may be the area they enjoy the most, but I would hazard a guess that it is not where they can make the most impact. At times I have gotten lost in code and had a great time with it. Then I stick my head up and recognise there are personnel issues or data projects that are now off track as I didn't prioritise my team as a lead.
